The Story of Our Beginning (And Where We’re Headed)
Every story has a beginning—and ours started long before Salt & Light ever had a building, or even a name. It began with a dream born from a desire to create a place of safety, hope, and belonging for youth and families in our community.
What started as a vision slowly began to take shape in 2020, when Salt & Light officially became a nonprofit organization. With a passionate board, we stepped out in faith—hosting story hours, Kids Adventure Camps, and sports programs at Chestnut Park. Even without a building, we saw God move in incredible ways as relationships were built, families were encouraged, and lives were touched.
Fast forward to 2025, and that same dream has grown into something we could have only imagined. Earlier this year, we purchased our very own building—a permanent home for Salt & Light! Since then, our summer has been filled with renovations, construction projects, and countless volunteer hours bringing the space to life.
Now, we’re in the final stretch!
Electrical work is nearly complete, emergency lighting and exit signs are in place, and we’re working closely with the city and fire marshal to meet the last few requirements before opening and making our building a safe place. It’s been a long process, but one covered in prayer, community support, and faith that God’s timing is always perfect.
As we look ahead, our excitement grows daily. Soon, this building will be more than just walls and hallways—it will be a place where youth find encouragement, families find connection, and hope shines bright.
