Meet Our Founder, Darlene Connant
I had the privilege to be brought-up by parents who loved the Lord, and lived their lives in Faith with integrity and honor. This is a true legacy for which I am forever grateful and personally endeavor to follow their example.
I became a mother at a very young age, met my husband in high school. We have been married for 35 yrs. We have been blessed with 5 children, 11 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
My vision and desire for a community center to serve the neighborhood started over 25 years ago when our oldest son was struggling with addiction, searching for answers and the idea of a safe place for youth took root.
God’s timing is almost never our timing, but in 2020 almost 20 years later, this vision came to life with the founding of Salt & Light Community Center.
I am more than thrilled to have a front row seat watching as God provides for the great needs in the community we serve.
Salt & Light has been blessed with a wonderful dedicated board. Together with many volunteers and partnerships we have diligently reached into the community offering programming that supports healthy living through the lens of 4 Health Pillars (Spiritual, Physical, Emotional and Financial Health)
